Narsingh Deonarine, the man who idolized Shivnarine Chanderpaul, didn't have an escalating career as he failed to make a mark in any of the forms of cricket. Deonarine possessed prominent similarities to Shivnarine as both were fond of anti-glare patches below their eyes.

Deonarine made his ODI debut against India on 31 July 2005. Interestingly, the left-handed batsman made his ODI debut under the captaincy of his idol Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

Narsingh had a decent debut against India in Dambulla, Srilanka. It was the second match of the tri-series where Srilanka hosted West Indies and India. Although Deonarine's inning was slow-paced as he scored 41 off 91 balls, he was the anchor of West Indies' innings as they bundled out for just 178 runs. Eventually, India easily chased the total with 14 overs and six wickets remaining.

Despite showing a fair amount of promise, Deonarine failed to cement his place in the West Indian team.
