This was India's most successful tour of South Africa till date

India's two-month-long tour of South Africa ended with a victory in the T20I series. There were high expectations from the Indian team when they visited South Africa. This was seen as India's best chance of winning a series against South Africa in South Africa. And surely the team did not disappoint the fans.

Even though the team lost the hard-fought Test series, they came back strongly to win the ODI and T20I series. They put a commanding performance and completely dominated the hosts in white ball cricket. There were many performances that made this series a delight for every cricket fan but there were some special performances that will be embeded in everyone's memories for a long time.

#5 Hardik Pandya's 93 runs off 95 balls in the first test

Pandya played some attractive shots in his inning of 93

When Hardik Pandya came to the crease in the first innings of the first test, India were tottering at 76 for 5 and were still trailing by 210 runs. South Africa was looking to take a big lead, just then Pandya scored a quick-fire 93 runs off 95 balls making a brilliant counterattack. He put the South African bowlers on the back foot and got India back in the game. He was involved in a 99 runs partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, which showed his ability to bat with the lower-order. Even though India lost the test, his fearless approach gave the side the confidence that they can bat on tough South African pitches.

#4 Bhuvi's all-round performance in the third test

After being mysteriously dropped in the second test, Bhuvneshwar Kumar made a terrific comeback in the third test. He not only took wickets but also made some crucial runs for the side. He made a fighting 30 in the first innings and stitched an important 55 run partnership with Ajinkya Rahane in the second. He was as efficient with the ball as ever. He took three wickets, including the crucial wickets of AB de Villiers and Dean Elgar in the first innings. He was declared man-of-the-match for his vital contributions in India's victory.

#3 Virat Kohli's 153 in the second test

Virat Kohli showed his class in the first innings of the second test when he scored a fluent century on a tough batting pitch. Kohli looked in sublime form during his innings of 153 runs. He made half of his team's total score. The second best score of the team being 46 shows the difficulty other batsmen faced playing on that pitch. Kohli played some elegant shots against a top-quality bowling unit. South Africa tested him with short-pitch bowling but Kohli responded brilliantly with some dazzling pull shots. Unfortunately, India lost the match, but Kohli's century, which was the only one of the series from either side, will be remembered by the fans for a long time.

#2 Chahal-Kuldeep's annihilation of the South African batting line-up in the second ODI

Ch
Chahal and Kuldeep complimented each other very well

Kuldeep and Chahal dominated South Africa completely in the ODI series, as they finished with 17 and 16 wickets respectively. While they performed exceedingly well throughout the series, their performance in the second ODI stands out. After a cautious but steady start, the South African batsmen were looking to accumulate runs in the middle overs. But Kuldeep and Chahal had different plans. The spin-twins spun a web around the batsmen that they couldn't come out of. In the 14.2 overs that they bowled between them, they took 8 wickets giving away only 42 runs. From 51/1, South Africa got dismissed for a meagre 118, a total that was easily chased down by the Indians. The wrist-spinners were the difference between the two sides in the series.

#1 Kohli's 160 not out in the third ODI

Virat Kohli had an outstanding ODI series as he scored 558 runs at an average of 186. Out of the three hundreds that he scored in the series, his hundred in the third ODI was the most significant. After a good start from Dhawan and Kohli, India's progress was hampered by a middle-order collapse. But Kohli did not get bogged down even when wickets kept falling on the other end. He remained not-out at the Indian innings with a score of 160 runs. His innings helped India win the match and take an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the series. Kohli's spectacular form paved the way for India's first ever ODI series win in South Africa.
