Australia declared their first innings at 570 and England went in to bat in the third session of day 2. Mitchell Johnson dismissed Cook early but England consolidated to 117 for 4 when Johnson came back for his second spell.

During the 50th over of the innings, Johnson trapped Stokes right in front of the stumps with a quick delivery and England were reduced to 117/5. He then dismissed Matt Prior with the 5th ball of his over and then castled Stuart broad's stump with his sixth.

His pace was simply too much for England to handle. Johnson picked up the remaining three wickets to finish England's innings for a paltry 172.
