Yasir Hameed has been a technically correct batsman for Pakistan, playing copybook cricket in all formats of the game. Though he has a modest average of 36.87 and 32.41 respectively in Test cricket and One Day Internationals, he injected a sense of calmness into the Pakistan batting line up.

In his short-lived cricketing career, he preferred to face the Indian bowling attack and it showed during India’s tour of Pakistan in 2004. Opening the batting for Pakistan, he took his team to impressive starts and set the platform for a blistering finish.

Albeit, with scores of 86 and 98 in the 2nd and 3rd ODI, he missed out on centuries, the knocks ensured that Pakistan got over the winning line on both occasions. He also impressed with a score of 91 in Multan in the first Test against India.
