Asim Kamal was a part of the Pakistan Test team for 12 matches and had impressed in the limited opportunities. He was brutal on the Indian bowling attack as he scored 353 runs against them at an average of 50.47.
He mostly came in at the middle order and was given the role of holding one end up as he had a solid technique with the bat. When India toured Pakistan in 2004, with scores of 73, 21 and 60*, he amassed 144 runs at an average of 77.
When Pakistan toured India in March 2005, he had the better of the Indian bowling too, as he notched up 199 runs. His highest Test score of 91 came in the first innings of the first Test in Mohali.
