5 players who can replace Ravichandran Ashwin in the Indian ODI team ahead of 2019 World Cup

Mishra has been incredibly unlucky not to play more for India

Despite making his ODI debut in 2003, Amit Mishra is yet to play 50 ODIs. Leg spinners might be the rage in international cricket but India still seem reluctant to give their most experienced leggie a consistent run in the side. However, with the World Cup to be played in England where India's spin department was exposed in the Champions Trophy, India might be tempted to give the veteran another go.

He has only played 36 ODIs in an international career that has spanned 14 years and that is despite the fact that Mishra averages nearly two wickets per game in ODIs and has an economy rate of under 5. This is even before taking into consideration his form in the IPL, where he is the second-leading wicket-taker only behind Lasith Malinga.

A sign of just how unlucky he has been is evident from the fact that in his last ODI, he picked up 5/18 and yet hasn't played an ODI since October 2016. The 34-year-old leg-spinner wasn't even in India's squad for the Champions Trophy despite being the second-highest ranked Indian ODI bowler in the world, well ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who were both picked ahead of him.
