The record for the fastest fifty and hundred in One Day Internationals is currently held by AB de Villiers. The Proteas superstar retired from international cricket recently, but not before breaking some important records in OCI cricket.

AB de Villiers scored 149 off 44 balls against West Indies at Johannesburg in 2015. Coming in to bat at no.3, de Villiers destroyed the Windies bowlers to all parts of the ground. He amassed 16 sixes and nine fours in his scintillating innings.

He took 16 balls to reach his fifty and then brought his century in 31 balls. Players like Chris Gayle, Jos Buttler, Jason Roy, Colin Munro, Evin Lewis, Andre Russell, Glenn Maxwell, and Martin Guptill are expected to play the tournament in England next June, and de Villiers' record could be broken.
