Asia Cup 2018: 3 best knocks from the group stages
#2 Shikhar Dhawan, 127 vs Hong Kong
In India's first encounter against Hong Kong, Shikhar Dhawan was on fire as he blazed his way to a majestic century. He hit the form at the right time and the innings was crucial from his point of view, especially after a lean patch that had extended for way too long in the series against England. But here, he once again came to terms as he stroked freely against the ball that didn't move.
After a cautious start, Shikhar was in the groove to smack his 14th century in the format with a 120-ball 127 before the big game against Pakistan. He held the innings beautifully and hinged a useful partnership with Ambati Rayudu, who came in at No.3.
This was a knock that established control over the opposition and gave them literally no chance to get rid of him. It was only after his wicket that the Indian middle-order faced some hiccups, but in the end, India registered a win by 26 runs.Modified 20 Dec 2019, 17:54 IST
