Asia Cup schedule announced, India to face Pakistan at least twice within a month

These days, India and Pakistan clashes are as rare as they are high-voltage

India and Pakistan are set to lock horns in at least two high-profile T20I clashes between February to April, and there might be more than these two if both the teams happen to qualify for the Asia Cup final or the later part of the World T20 knockout stages.

With the Asia Cup being played in T20 format for the first time this year, India and Pakistan are scheduled to meet in Dhaka on February 27, Saturday, according to the recently released schedule.

The 13th edition of the Asia Cup will feature Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and one country between Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman and United Arab Emirates. The qualifying stages of the tournament will precede the actual tournament, which begins on February 24.

All matches of the tourney will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. Hosts Bangladesh will take on India in the opening clash.

The Asia Cup will conclude on March 6, barely a few days before the World T20 in India. Both India and Pakistan are in Group 2 there, and are set to meet at Dharamshala on March 19.

According to the new rotation policy, the 2016 and 2020 Asia Cup events will be played using the T20I format, ahead of the 2016 and 2020 World Twenty20s, and the 2018 and 2022 events will be played in ODI format.
