Incessant rain forced the officials to abandon the Pool A match

Brisbane, Feb 21 - Australia's Cricket World Cup Pool A match against Bangladesh was abandoned without a ball being bowled at the Gabba here on Saturday. Both teams will get one point each.

Heavy rain generated by Cyclone Marcia swamped Brisbane on Friday and persisted again on Saturday, meaning no play was possible.

The rain had eased early on Saturday and with the Gabba being famous for its ability to drain quickly, there was some hope that a curtailed match would be played later in the evening.

But a trough off the coast that was heading south changed direction and headed back towards Brisbane, lashing the city with even more rain.
