Australia vs India 2018-19, Third ODI: All the stats from the match

India won the decisive third ODI at Melbourne by seven wickets to register their first ever bilateral ODI series win against Australia in Australia.

Batting first, Australia were completely deceived by Yuzvendra Chahal's bowling as he bagged a six-wicket haul in the match. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami shared two wickets each as Australia could only muster a below-par score of 230 in 48.4 overs.

In response, India too had a horrid start as India lost its first wicket at the score of 15. Centurion from the first ODI, Rohit Sharma, couldn't get going as he holed a simple catch to Shaun Marsh.

Shikhar Dhawan too never looked comfortable during his stay which yielded only 23 runs with no boundaries to his name.

MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli did the rebuilding job as the duo stitched a 54 run stand for the third wicket. This crucial partnership brought the chase back on track. Kohli missed out his half-century by just four runs as he was caught behind of Richardson's delivery.

Kedar Jadhav and Dhoni then shared an unbeaten 121-run stand to steer India home.

Meanwhile, Dhoni scored his 70th ODI fifty, third in the series. Jadhav, too, made a magnificent 57-ball 61 in his comeback match.

Yuzvendra Chahal was awarded Man of the Match for his six-wicket haul while Dhoni received the Man of the Series award for his three consecutive fifties, two in the winning cause.

4. Chahal's figure is the best by any spinner in Australia.

5. Chahal's effort is the joint sixth best in the Indian bowling chart. Stuart Binny has the best figures for India in ODIs- 6/4 against Bangladesh in 2014.

6. Virat Kohli got out to Jhye Richardson in all the three matches in this series. Prior to this, Kohli was dismissed thrice in a three-match series by Pakistan's Junaid Khan in 2012.

7. Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the Man of the Series award after a gap of eight years. He now has seven Man of the Series Award and is only behind Sachin Tendulkar (15).
