A total of 46 matches will be contested over a month. All teams will be participating in a double round-robin stage which will have a single BPL points table which will decide the teams playing the knockout stages. A double round-robin stage means that every team will play against every other team twice, once at home and once away.
Similar to the mega event, the IPL, the BPL 2019-20 will also have an Eliminator, two Qualifiers and then the Final. The third and fourth placed teams in the Bangladesh Premier League table will have to play the Eliminator and the winner gets a life to stay in the competition. The top two teams get two opportunities before being knocked out.
