Bhuvneshwar Kumar set to begin new innings in personal life
What's the story?
Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is set to begin a new innings, but off the field this time. The 27-year-old joined the already overflowing list of engaged/married Indian cricketers after getting betrothed to Greater Noida-born Nupur Nagar in a private ceremony on Wednesday.
In case you didn't know...
The couple grew up in the same neighbourhood in Meerut and it is apparent that they have known each other for quite a while. Nupur, after having received her engineering degree from a private academy, is currently working in an MNC. Her father, meanwhile, is a retired police officer.
The heart of the matter
Bhuvneshwar revealed the identity of the girl in an Instagram post. Meanwhile, his father explained how the engagement came to fruition. "Our families have known each other for a while now, par yeh Bhuvneshwar ki pasand thi. Ussne humein bataya and we were happy. The girl is educated and sweet and the family is very nice too. We are now trying to see when we can have the wedding. Bhuvi is busy with back-to-back series in the coming months but as soon as we find a 10-day window, we will make arrangements."
Bhuvneshwar will be tied down by national duty in December, with series against Sri Lanka and South Africa in the pipeline. The Sri Lanka series concludes on December 21st while the South African series is set to begin around Christmas, hence if the marriage is to take place in December, the window of opportunity is a very small one indeed.
While no date has been officially set for the wedding, it is provisionally scheduled to happen in December. According to Kiran Pal Singh, Bhuvneshwar's father, several Indian cricketers are set to feature on the guest list, including current skipper Virat Kohli, former captain MS Dhoni and several others.
Many cricketers in the past have enjoyed much success after getting hitched and hopefully Bhuvneshwar is no exception to that trend. Here's wishing him and his fiancee the best of luck for their life ahead.
