Directed by Nikhil Advani who was the man behind the success of Kal Ho Na Ho, Patiala House was a movie about a father and son relationship. Featuring Akshay Kumar and Rishi Kapoor, the film follows Gattu, who is living the life chosen by his cricket-hating father. As Gattu loves the game, when he gets a shot to play for an English team, he is torn between his father's orders and his own passion.

The movie received mixed reviews, and it was deemed “too predictable” by many critics.
