Gary Kirsten, who was India's world-cup winning coach in 2011 and an extremely successful South African cricketer prior to that, has applied for the role of the head coach of the Indian women's cricket team.

This news came as a shock to the RCB management as he is to coach the IPL side for the upcoming season in 2019. While there is no conflict of interest to coach both sides, the Lodha Committee made it quite clear that he should choose one, if he is to get the role with the women's side.

“Gary has not reached out to us or mentioned anything about applying for any other position. Even if he is appointed women's coach, he will continue to be the RCB coach till the end of this season at least,” an RCB official spokesperson told CricketNext.
