Video: Marnus Labuschagne gets out twice in a single ball

Marnus Labuschagne attempting the reverse sweep that got him out 'twice’ in one ball

Queensland Bulls batsman Marnus Labuschagne lost his wicket in a ridiculous fashion while playing against Victoria Bushrangers. Labuschagne, who was struggling to score runs for the Bulls went out in an embarrassing fashion, thus making a name for the wrong reasons.

This dismissal follows Australian all-rounder Shane Watson's comic dismissal yesterday when he was bowled off a leg-spinner's full-toss, going for the expansive shot. Labuschagne lost his wicket in a similarly bizarre manner in the match that took place on Friday in the Matador Cup against the Bushrangers. Earlier, the Bushrangers had won the toss and chose to field.

Some might wonder if a batsman can get out twice in one ball. But, that is exactly what happened when Labuschagne attempted to reverse-sweep spinner Victoria left-arm spinner Jon Holland. Coming in to bat at Number 3, after Queensland lost an early wicket, Labuschagne battled his way to 19 runs off 45 balls.

In what was probably an attempt to get some runs flowing, Labuschagne tried to sweep Holland and completely missed, with the ball striking his pads. Umpire Gerard Abood lifted up his finger to give the batsman out LBW. However, this was not before the ball had deflected off the batsman's pads onto his bat and finally hitting the stumps, thus dislodging the bails.

Even though the on-field decision was LBW, Labuschagne was ruled out bowled as per the Law 30 of the Laws of Cricket. The law states that Bowled dismissal takes precedence over any other dismissal.

In addition to the Watson dismissal yesterday and the dismissal of Labuschagne today, Bengal batsman Shreevats Goswami got run-out in a strange fashion in the Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka yesterday.

Labuschagne gained fame when in India's tour of Australia when he came on as a substitute fielder in the second Test match and caught a brilliant catch at short-leg to dismiss Varun Aaron.
