Dean Jones, the former Australian cricketer, was deported by the Immigration authorities in Pakistan, according to Indian Express. He was deported for travelling to Pakistan without a valid visa.

It is said that Jones, who arrived on Monday at the Benazir Bhutto International airport, found out later that his visa had expired. The Australian is now appointed as the head coach of Islamabad United in the upcoming Pakistan Super League.

The immigration officers reported that he didn’t have a valid visa to enter the country and was deported in accordance with the immigration laws. An official from the Immigration department told PTI, “We found out that he didn’t have a valid visa to enter Pakistan and we have deported him as per immigration laws.”

According to some sources, Jones tried to get in touch with the franchise owners and the Pakistan Cricket Board but couldn’t get any help from them due to his invalid visa. Expiry of a visa was beyond the hands of PCB or the Franchise owners.

He landed in Islamabad for the player draft for the five franchises in Lahore. The Pakistan Super League flags off on February 4th 2016 in UAE. Jones has been selected as one of the foreign coaches signed by the PSL Franchises.

Jones has been a regular traveller to Pakistan for commentating and recently came on as an expert advisor to a TV channel.

The official from the Immigration Department added, “He didn't realise that his visa had expired for his stay in Pakistan. Once he has a valid visa he can come back.”

Jones has been in news quite too often now. He has already been facing troubles from Pakistani players for his presence in the Pakistan Super League. Pakistani players have questioned his appointment because of his alleged involvement in match fixing as suspected by the Australian Cricket Board.

Babar Hamid, an Islamabad United official confirmed the incident, he told Geo News, ““Dean Jones was coming via Dubai. One document was missing. When he came here he realized he did not have the required letter.” According to Hamid, this happened due to a “communication gap” and could happen anywhere at any time.

Jones has faced a lot trouble in his career now. From calling Hashim Amla a ‘terrorist’ to being deported from an Airport.
