Former amateur cricketer brushes injury aside to become 'World's largest man'

From a skinny lad to weighing 230kg, Martyn Ford has come a long way

Martyn Ford had dreams of becoming a professional cricketer but at the age of 19 a serious injury forced him to think otherwise. After that he took up running and subsequently lost a lot of weight. During this time, his body fat percentage fell to an alarming 4 percent.

“The injury hit me quite hard and then psychologically I just gave up,” Martyn said while talking to Mail Online.

The 33-year-old from UK is now engaged with bodybuilding and currently weighs 230kg. According to Mensxp, this 6 feet 8 inches bodybuilder is ‘the largest human alive on planet. To maintain his physique, he has to eat every hour and consumes 7000 plus calories each day. This is three times more than a normal human’s daily calorie consumption. Every week, Ford has to spend $250 on his food.

The injury had psychologically affected Martyn Ford

Martyn, presently a fitness expert, bagged a role in the film ‘Undisputed 4’ due to his humongous size.

Cast against Scott Adkins, his character is named ‘The Nightmare’ in this film. According to this body builder, it was lack of training and depression that caused weight loss. “I suppose a combination of not training and depression took me right down to that sort of weight,” he said.

However, all these could not take away Martyn’s confidence. “When I hit my lowest weight I was determined to turn it around and that’s when I started weight training. My initial goal was to try to get the size back on that I’d lost – about two-and-a-half/three stone.”

Talking about achieving his goals he said, “I put this on very quickly and decided that this was something I could do. It was a great psychological release for me, I felt like I was achieving again. So once I hit that initial goal, I just carried on – and 12 stone later I’m still carrying on!”

Martyn’s story of being strong and achieving goals even after dreams were shattered is truly an inspiring one.
