The Indian team is all set to play its first Test at the Adelaide Oval, on the 6th of December. This time, there are high expectations from this Indian team to clinch their first ever Test series victory Down Under.

Adelaide Oval has always been a happy hunting ground for the Indians. They have always looked to compete at this venue and have not meekly surrendered to the Aussies on previous occasions.

Let us now reminisce the top 4 moments of the Indian cricket team at this venue. While the first encapsulates the individual brilliance of Virat Kohli and is worth mentioning, the rest of the three moments highlights India's memorable victories at this venue.

Honorable mention: Virat Kohli’s double magic in Adelaide (115 and 141)

It is indeed a rare possibility that a visiting Test batsman scores a century in each of the two innings of a Test match, and that too, in a battleground like Australia. What Virat did in Adelaide was truly magical.

Asked to captain the side for the first time in the absence of the injured Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kohli had the twin challenges of leading the side as well as returning back to form after a poor series in England. Kohli batted with sheer class and crafted two brilliant centuries in hot and humid conditions.

Chasing a target of 364, Kohli decided to go for the win rather than grinding it out and settling for a draw. Though India lost the match by 48 runs, Kohli had won the hearts of millions of cricket fans with his stunning performance.

#3 India's thrashes Pakistan in the 2015 ICC world cup

India began its 2015 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan. The stadium was packed and the atmosphere was electrifying. India won the toss and batted first. Their decision was vindicated as they scored 300/7 with Virat Kohli scoring a fine century while Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan chipped in with half-centuries.

In reply, Pakistan never really got going. They lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually were bundled out for 224. This win ensured that India began its World Cup title defense on a positive note along with keeping its World Cup winning streak against Pakistan intact.

#2 Dhoni's epic last over finish in the 'Commonwealth Bank Triangular Series' (2012)

Chasing 270 for victory against Australia, India were comfortably placed at 178/4 in the 35th over. Gautam Gambhir scored 92 priceless runs and laid a solid foundation for the rest of the batsmen.

But, Mahendra Singh Dhoni walked out to bat and played a lot of dot balls, thereby increasing the required rate. He took the game deep and in the end, the equation boiled down to 13 runs required off the last over.

Dhoni, as always, remained 'ice cool' and hit a towering 112 meters six off Clint Mckay and ensured that India won a thrilling encounter. This victory meant that it was the highest successful run chase in the One Day Internationals at Australia for India at that point of time.

#1 Dravid’s marathon knock at Adelaide (233 and 72 not out )

Dravid had earned himself a place for the 2003 Australian tour. He had had a disappointing series Down Under in 1999. So, 2003 was a tour of redemption for him. Australia, batting for close to two days, had posted a mammoth first innings score of 556

Dravid, being the mainstay of this Indian batting line up, needed to bring his ‘A’ game in order to come close to the Australian total. He batted for close to ten hours with absolute grit and determination and scored an incredible 233 runs. His innings was backed up by Ajit Agarkar's superb six-wicket haul thereby bundling out the Aussies for a below par 196. Chasing 230 for victory, Dravid carried on from where he had left in the first innings. He was there till the end, remaining unbeaten on 72 and helped India win its first Test on Australian soil after a long gap of 22 years.

Dravid 's magnificent knock in Adelaide ensured that India won a test match in Australia after a gap of 22 years.

So, the Indian team can take a lot of inspiration from its previous victories at this venue and look to begin the series on a positive note.
