Shami made a comeback in this Test series after a prolonged injury kept him out of international cricket since the 2015 World Cup. Shami was unplayable in the 1st test as he swung the ball both ways and made life difficult for the Windies batsmen. He picked up 4 top order wickets in a fiery spell that triggered a batting collapse and took four wickets in the 2nd Test but he was far more threatening than his figure suggests.
Shami made a sensational Test debut against the same opposition in Kolkata and picked up 10 wickets. The series is also remembered as the farewell test series of Sachin Tendulkar.
