Another batsman from Karnataka, Rahul Dravid scaled the summit twice. But his second stint lasted longer. He was perched at the top for 11 months at a stretch from May 2004 to March 2005. Dravid was the Indian middle order talisman during that period.

Everytime India were in trouble in ODI or Tests during that period he would battle it out for his side. Outside the subcontinent, he was a talisman for the side and has single-handedly taken India to some very memorable wins.

By the time, Dravid hung up his boots he was a legend. He made his international debut in 1996 and continued till 2012 and during the tenure he had scored a whopping 10,889 ODI runs to his credit.

His Test match record is even better. From 164 Tests he notched 13,288 at an average of 52.31.
