Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar is a legend in the cricketing fraternity, however, in the United States of America where cricket is just trying to make a mark, the ‘little master’ had a troublesome experience as he was not allowed to enter the stadium before the start of the second T20 game between India and the West Indies on Sunday.

The security officials at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill failed to recognize the 1983 World Cup winner and he was denied entry. Gavaskar was there as a commentator for the official broadcasters. Journalist Peter Della Penna took to twitter to describe the incident in a hilarious way.

The safety measures in America are known to be very tight all across the country especially in public places like sports stadiums and airports. A few days back Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan was detained at the Los Angeles airport despite being a well-known face around the world. Gavaskar’s situation is almost the same but this time, it is related to a cricket game.

The 67-year-old, however, did not create a scene and instead spent his time clicking selfies with fans and signing autographs. He was later allowed inside when the team bus had left. Gavaskar had scored 10,122 runs from 125 Tests and from 108 ODIs he had amassed 3092 runs in his international career.

India and West Indies locked horns in a two-match T20 series, the last of which was played on Sunday. Then second game was abandoned after a shower with India placed at 15/0 chasing West Indies’ 143. West Indies had won the first game by one run and therefore pocketed the series 1-0.
