After a poor series against England, India came into the Champions Trophy wanting to turn the tide and get some form going their way.
They had the chance to do that when they faced Kenya in their opening match at Southampton in the first match of the 2004 Champions Trophy.
Led by Sourav Ganguly's 90, VVS Laxman's 79 and other useful contributions by the lower-order, India managed to reach 290 for 4 in their 50 overs.
Then with the ball and in the field, they put in a spirited performance to dismiss the Kenyans for 192 and win the game by 98 runs and get their tournament off to a winning start.
