After a week full of reports involving both the captain and the coach, India went into their game against Pakistan, hoping to provide their fans with some positive news and take the attention from the off-field controversies.
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan gave the side the foundation they needed and that was then capitalised by Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, who propelled their side 319 for 3 in their 48 overs.
In reply, the Pakistani batsman found it increasingly difficult to counter the disciplined Indian bowling on view and were skittled out for 164 to hand India a 125-run win, their biggest in Champions Trophy history.
