The temperamental Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir once again found himself amidst a controversy as he celebrated his team’s win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2016 in an outrageous manner. Sitting in the dug-out, the captain kicked a chair to show his enjoyment and he was panned by people in the social media for this act.
An ecstatic Gambhir couldn’t hold his emotions back as his team pulled off a sensational victory against RCB. They were staring at the defeat at one stage and it was the partnership between Yusuf Pathan and Andre Russell that brought them back into the game.
Chasing a stiff target of 186, KKR found themselves in a spot of bother as they lost four wickets quickly. The asking rate was climbing high and KKR needed someone like Pathan or Russell to step up.Well they did, as the duo stitched together a partnership of 96 runs in just 44 balls to tilt the game in KKR’s favour.

What exactly happened?
The Gambhir incident took place when the fourth ball of the 19th over was swept to the square leg boundary by Surya Kumar Yadav bringing down the equation to two runs off eight balls, the captain just couldn't control himself.
All the while he was sitting in the dugout with his pads on and watching an incredible fight-back by Pathan and Russell, but as soon as the ball touched the ropes, the KKR skipper got up from his chair and violently kicked it down while shouting loud.
The leg-spinner Piyush Chawla who was sitting beside Gambhir reacted quickly and reinstated the chair for his captain. Gambhir’s reaction also shocked the commentators and they were heard saying, “What is he doing?”
The KKR captain who scored 37 in the game might have vented his anger because he was unfortunately adjudged leg-before-wicket in the game.
However, he seriously went a step too far in unleashing his emotions. Gambhir has also been involved in controversies before because of his temper. The most notable of them is when he got involved in an ugly spat with his India teammate Virat Kohli in an IPL game in the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Delhi lads were throwing words at each other and it was surely not a pleasing sight for the Indian fans.
