If one imagines Virat Kohli, then an aggressive and ruthless batsman whose biceps are tattooed spring to mind. However, there is a charitable side to the 27-year old which is not often highlighted. The Delhi dasher paid a special visit to the Abhalmaya old age home at Pune and came back a much wiser man.
The Indian Express reported the Indian Test skipper flying to Pune ahead of his Royal Challengers team-mates and dropped by the care center in the city. Dr. Aparna Deshmukh operates the foundation to take care of the elderly who had been neglected by their families or could not meet the rising prices in private hospitals.

Kohli met every resident personally and enquired about their well-being. He himself runs a charity foundation which meets the needs of the underprivileged. Therefore, the star batsman is well aware of the ground realities of life.
He revealed, “It is very disturbing as well as eye opening to see people abandoning their own families. I cannot think of anything worst than to have been left by your own people at this age. It is so hard to digest, it is simply nothing if you compare it to loss in a cricket game.”
In a heartfelt realization, Kohli affirmed, “Everyone praises us as cricketers but the support staff who are loving and caring that deserve credit in our society. Some of them who I spoke to were is such great spirits and it is wonderful lesson for me in life.“
The right-hander who is currently the heart of the Indian cricket team also spoke about the difference that Dr. Aparna Deshmukh has created in the lives of those people. He even vowed to offer his complete support and take care of the foundation during the rest of the year.
