ITC Gardenia in Bangalore to host IPL 7 auctions

The player auctions for the 2014 edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL) will take place on 12th and 13th February 2014 at the ITC Gardenia hotel in Bangalore.

It is believed that the IPL governing council had earlier considered Mumbai and Chennai as venues to host the event but finally gave the nod to Bangalore after consultation with the other key members in the board. The franchises were informed about the venue, which has hosted IPL auctions in the past too, on Friday evening.

The player auctions for this year’s IPL is expected to be very interesting with the governing council introducing new rules regarding player retention and a new ‘right to match’ rule.

The eight franchises had time till 5:00 PM on January 10th 2014 to announce the list of players that they have chosen to retain. A total of 24 players have been retained by the franchises with everyone retaining at least two players except Delhi Daredevils who chose not to retain any player.
