Lalit Modi dropped the bombshell few hours ago when he accused BCCI of destroying the ICL by arm-twisting cricket boards and the International Cricket Council. Lalit Modi made the allegations on his twitter page where he gave details how BCCI, fearing ICL owner Subhash Chandra’s ability, tried every strategy to scuttle the big plans of the rebel Indian Cricket League(ICL). Modi also admitted that he was part of the BCCI game plan to demolish the ICL infrastructure.

Ex-IPL commissioner Lalit Modi also admitted his participation in this whole design, also clarified his position in the next few tweets.

His next tweets also revealed the reasons and some details of the systematic program aimed to nip the ICL to its end. He wrote on his official twitter page:

we were afraid of Subhash Chandra’s Clout in Media and ability to Take over the World of Cricket. Internally we knew he would do a better job. I admit it was a mistake to have systematically used everything in Bcci’s arsenal to finish ICL.

Revealing step by step plans of the BCCI’s agenda to finish the ICL, Modi tweeted

Cricket associations were told not to give there grounds or fear loosing matches. Advertisers were called and told if you advertise on ICL than you will be barred from all bcci cricket by the Bcci. In effect bcci did what was necessary to finish ICL. Players were told do not play for ICL or we will black list you. Bcci even terminated Zee Sports contract unfairly as they had launched ICL and Bcci wanted window for IPL. The final Straw was to offer ICL players an amnesty Scheme so that they would desert ICL and join IPL. Commentators were called and told do not associate with ICL or BCCI will ensure we will not take you. Umpires were told the same. it was systematically done.

Few minutes later, sharpening his attack, Modi tweeted more details which can embarrass the BCCI and the ICC

Modi seems to be upset with news reports of BCCI blacklisting the Sri Lankan Premier League citing Modi’s association with the T20 league. Modi denied any such association and expressed amazement how mentioning his name can “send a shiver down the spines”. He called BCCI administrator as “a bunch of spineless people running the show”. Modi’s latest revelations can be seen as his counter-attack. It will be interesting to see how the BCCI will react to this.
