Latest news on the impending wedding of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma

Virat Kohli, the heartthrob of Indian cricket and now the captain across all three formats, has been rumoured to be marrying his longtime girlfriend and Bollywood star Anushka Sharma ever since he was rested from the limited-overs leg of the ongoing home series against Sri Lanka. As there has neither been a denial nor a confirmation from either side about the impending marriage, interest in this topic has only multiplied with every passing day.

Amidst rumours of the couple departing for Switzerland, there was word that the pair, in the company of their family and a select few friends, had flown to Italy. In fact, Anushka is said to have departed from Mumbai, while Kohli flew from Delhi.

What added fuel to the fire was the presence of a priest alongside Anushka's brother, the very priest who had been snapped with her and Kohli just a few months back.

However, there came a denial from Anushka's spokesperson last week regarding the marriage with Kohli. “There’s absolutely no truth to it,” he bluntly said.

As regards the venue of the wedding, it was first believed to be a luxury hotel in Milan, while now it is thought to be a villa in Tuscany, Italy.

Adelaide Oval CEO Andrew Daniels stated that “we would be thrilled to host Virat and Anushka’s wedding at the Adelaide Oval”, as it was there that Kohli got his maiden Test hundred and also led India in a Test for the first time.

The date of their wedding has also drawn some debate. Allegedly, earlier scheduled for December 12 or 18, it is thought to now be taking place on December 15. News of very limited invitees has also been doing the rounds, with Kohli slated to invite only Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, and Anushka inviting her Bollywood colleagues Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Maneesh Sharma and Aditya Chopra.

And before Kohli sets off for a lengthy South Africa tour towards the end of this month, a grand wedding reception is also allegedly being planned for December 21 at a five-star hotel in Mumbai.
