Australian captain Michael Clarke will be one of the pallbearers at Phillip Hughes’ funeral, which will take place at his hometown Macksville on December 3, according to BBC.

Hughes died on Thursday at St. Vincent’s hospital after being hit on his head by a bouncer during a Sheffield Shield game at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on November 25. The freak accident has left the entire cricketing world in extreme distress, with tributes pouring in from all corners.

Clarke, it is understood, will help carry the casket of Hughes at the cricketer’s burial service.

Moved Hughes’ family wants as many people to be at the funeral

Hughes’ family, meanwhile, has welcomed all those who want to be at their son’s funeral, promising that appropriate arrangements will be made. James Anderson, the deceased batsman’s manager, said: "For the people who aren't able to get into the hall, the family has made arrangements for several overflow areas at the local high school. So everybody should come to celebrate Phillip's life. That's what the family wants."

Henderson also said that Hughes’ family have been overwhelmed by the support shown by people around the globe in these difficult times. He said: “"The past week has certainly been a very, very difficult time for the family and for the broader community. And they've been very moved from the support that's come from here in Australia and obviously all the way around the world, where Phil's untimely and sad passing has affected so many people.

"They're very proud that their son has made such an impression on people who knew him and obviously people now who have come to know him in this unfortunate circumstance ... Hughesy was a real no-fuss guy, and I know he would be looking down on this and wondering what the hell is going on."
