Mohammed Shami speaks to media regarding allegations; ready to apologize if found guilty
What's the story?
After accusations of extra-martial affairs and assault were made against Mohammed Shami by his wife, Hasin Jahan, the Indian team pacer broke his silence in the media by speaking to India Today. "I am ready to apologise to my fans and everyone else if any evidence is found against me." said Shami, while reiterating the fact that the conspiracy has been specifically created to defame him.
In case you didn't know...
While Shami was away on domestic duty in Dharmashala representing India A in the ongoing Deodhar Trophy, Jahan took to social media to post several screenshots of text messages claiming to be from the phone of the Indian pacer.
Shami, however, responded on Twitter later in the day, claiming that all the allegations have been made in an attempt to tarnish his image in the eyes of the public.
The heart of the matter
Speaking to India Today to clarify his side of the story, Shami further asserted that the accusations made against him are completely baseless, and denied them.
With the news coming out of the blue, Shami claimed that there have been no problems between him and his wife, with the couple having toured South Africa together and even celebrated the festival of Holi before the pacer took off to fulfill his domestic cricket duties.
The 27-year-old also stated that he has been in contact with his in-laws and was confident that he would soon put the entire chapter behind him.
BCCI announced the new pay structure with four new categories on Wednesday, with the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Jasprit Bumrah jumping up the ladder by two or more categories.
Though the name of Mohammed Shami was missing from the list, sources claim that his name hasn't been entirely omitted from the list but has instead been withheld.
In a country where cricketers are role models and kept on a very high pedestal by the fans, one would hope that, once all the dust settles, Mohammed Shami's name is indeed cleared from all the accusations and the pacer can concentrate on his cricket, given he is a vital cog in the Indian side. His experience and presence will be important to the team that will be going into the 2019 World Cup in England.
