MS Dhoni's Debut In International Cricket

ms dhoni debut

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s debut would be one which he would like to definitely forget unlike his entire career. Dhoni is one of the top international athletes and his charismatic persona has earned him praise as one of the leading captains of the Indian cricket team. He successfully led India to the inaugral World T20 triumph which was his first assignment as captain and then went on to win many other tournaments as captain including the 2011 World Cup.

He is often criticized by many cricket lovers but still he has a tremendous fan following who love him and his style both on and off the field. He is known for his cool and calm approach towards the game. He is one of the best finishers in ODI cricket. There is no denial of the fact that he is probably one of the best Indian batsmen

Mahi, the flamboyant boy from Jharkhand made his debut for India against Bangladesh in the first ODI of the series at Chittagong on Dec. 23 2004 and he was yet another try in the series of many wicket keepers that India tried since 2000. He got his recognition after his perfromances for India A in the tri nation tournament in Kenya. He scored 362 runs at an average of 72 which included back to back hundreds against Pakistan A.

Dhoni unfortunately got run out for a duck on the very first ball he faced and didn’t do anything great in the coming matches as well. He made only 19 runs on the tour in 3 matches. He kept on marching back at a brisk pace after getting out everytime with the same expression and he still does the same, he walks out the same way no matter he scores a big ton or gets out on zero. He caught the eyeballs when he scored 148 against Pakistan coming in at number 3. After that the 183 not out against Sri lanka made him even popular among the fans and since then established himself in the Indian team by making his Test debut sooner.

Joginder Sharma also made his debut with him whom we remember for getting the last over from Dhoni in the World T20 final against Pakistan where he took the wicket of Misbah which won India the trophy.
