Australian middle-order batter Travis Head has joined captain Pat Cummins in denying any rift between the players following a humiliating defeat in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test against India in Perth. The southpaw has asserted that there are no frictions within the side and that they hung out together.

With Josh Hazlewood appearing for the presser after Day 3 of the first Test, his comment of 'you have to ask the batters' caused a stir when asked how Australia will approach the mammoth run chase. Former cricketers Michael Vaughan and Ravi Shastri reckoned that there were some cracks in the Aussie camp.

Speaking to 7news, Head denied any dressing room rift and asserted:

"I think (people have) picked the bones out of a comment on the back of a poor week, which is fine. It’s OK to be critical, we understand that. We stuck together, had some good conversations, definitely no fractions. All the boys hung out together last night."

The South Australian emerged as their best batter from their side amid a chastening 295-run defeat in Perth. The southpaw scored a brisk 89 in the second innings before edging one off Jasprit Bumrah to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.

While Head acknowledged Australia's impeccable record in pink-ball Tests in Adelaide, he feels the hosts cannot get their guard down. Out of the 12 matches they have played, the Aussies have won 11 of them.

The 30-year-old stated:

"We play the pink ball well traditionally there and look we’re going to have to. There’s no hiding behind that, we’ve got to play better. Nothing’s guaranteed in this game, but if we work hard, no reason why we can’t turn it around.”

The last time India and Australia played a pink-ball Test in Adelaide, the home side won by eight wickets. However, Cummins and company must play out of their skins to level the series in Adelaide.
