The sixth match of the 2024 Andhra Premier League was between the Coastal Riders and the Bezawada Tigers at the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, with the Riders winning the game by eight runs. The Rayalaseema Kings emerged victorious in the seventh match of the tournament against the Godavari Titans, winning their fixture by seven wickets.

The 2024 edition of the Andhra Premier League sees the Uttarandhra Lions top the points table with two victories out of two games. The Lions have eight points so far with a healthy net run rate of +2.726.

Vizag Warriors closely follow the Lions with eight points in two games, but an inferior net run rate of +1.322 puts them in the second spot.

Rayalaseema Kings, after their victory against the Godavari Titans, jumped to the third spot with two wins in three games. The Kings have accumulated eight points at a net run rate of +0.319.

Coastal Riders are in fourth place with their solitary victory in three games. With four points and a net run rate of -2.776, the Riders are above the Godavari Titans and the Bezawada Tigers, who have yet to open their accounts this season. The Titans and Tigers haven't scored a point yet in their two games. They round off the fifth and sixth positions, respectively.


Riders win a close encounter by eight runs; Kings chase down 176

The first game of the day saw the Bezawada Tigers win the toss and bowl first against the Coastal Riders. Skipper Shaik Rasheed wasn't too unhappy upon losing the toss, as he opened the innings for the Riders and top-scored with 67 off just 47 deliveries. With an SR of 142.55, Rasheed’s innings consisted of five boundaries and three sixes.

Abhishek Reddy looked good for his 35 off 22 deliveries, while Karthik Raman’s late blitz (19 off 9) helped the Riders reach a score of 170/6 in 20 overs. Kavuri Saiteja ended his spell (2/35) as the highest wicket-taker for the Tigers in this game.

Chasing 171, Bezawada opener Dhruva Kumar scored 45 off just 29 deliveries, scoring his runs at a strike rate of 155.17. Contributions from skipper Ricky Bhui (34 off 28) and Pyla Avinash (42 off 32) down the order almost helped the Bezawada Tigers clinch a victory against the Coastal Riders, but alas, they lost the game by eight runs. Cheepurapalli Stephen, Yaragunta Pramod, and Karthik Raman took two wickets each for the Riders.

Put into bat first, the Godavari Titans put up a decent total of 175/7 in 20 overs against the Rayalaseema Kings in the second game of the day. Mamidi Vmasi Krishna (57 off 35) and KV Sasikanth (36 off 19) were primarily responsible for their teams’ first-innings total. The bowling duo of Girinath Reddy and Penmetsa Satya Raju shared four wickets between them as they helped the Rayalaseema Kings restrict the Godavari Titans in the first innings of the game.

Chasing a modest total of 176, the Warriors never felt uneasy in the chase as opener DB Prasanth Kumar steadied the ship with his knock of 49 in 41 balls. P. Roshan Kumar (70 off 47) and Gutta Rohit (39 off 17) ensured that the Kings won this game with seven wickets in hand.
