Lhuan-dré Pretorius, Lesego Senokwane, Codi Yusuf, Dewald Brevis, and Prenelan Subrayen are the five uncapped players in the squad selected to face Zimbabwe. While Subrayen and Brevis have travelled with the squad before, Pretorius, Senokwane, and Yusuf have earned maiden call-ups to the squad.

Pretorius, who put himself on the map with a sensational season for Paarl Royals in SA20 this year, also shone in the CSA 4-day series, aggregating three centuries and finishing with an average of 72.66. Senokwane is another batter as he amassed 559 runs in the four-day series, scoring three centuries. Both Pretorious and Senokwane made their South Africa 'A' debuts in the recent rubber against the West Indies 'A'.

Yusuf, the 27-year-old bowling all-rounder, is another exciting prospect and picked up 23 scalps in the four-day series at an average of 22.39. Subrayen is a spin-bowling all-rounder and performed quite well against West Indies A, picking up a fifer and scoring 64 runs in an innings win for South Africa A. Brevis is coming off a highly promising IPL campaign for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and averages a healthy 41.31 in 20 first-class games so far. The youngster's only international experience is the two T20Is that came in 2023.

South Africa have a chance to lift the World Test Championship (WTC) mace when they face Australia in the final at Lord's Cricket Ground, beginning on June 11. The Proteas finished the 2023-25 WTC cycle at the top of the table with eight wins in 12 matches.

Australia are the defending champions, having beaten India by 209 runs at The Oval in 2023. Meanwhile, it is the South Africans' first time in a WTC final.
