The Cricket Association Pondicherry Siechem Ground hosted yet another cracking Pondicherry Premier League 2024 double-header on Thursday, August 15.

The first match of the evening turned out to be a high-scoring see-saw thriller between Villianur Mohit Kings and Karaikal Kniights. The Mohit Kings batted first and clubbed 213/6 from 20 overs. Aman Hakim Khan launched five boundaries and seven sixes to top-score in the innings with 84 runs from just 38 balls. For the Karaikal Kniights, fast bowler Bhupender Chauhan picked up two wickets in the final over to claim expensive figures of 2/46.

Chasing 214, Karaikal Kniights fell just a run short of their target. This is despite fiery half-centuries from Mohammed Aqib Jawad (66 off 33 balls) and Waseef Mukadam (72 off 30 balls). Villianur Mohit Kings leg-spinner Jullian Jacab turned out to be the primary difference between the two sides, picking up three key wickets in his three overs.

Meanwhile, Ossudu Accord Warriors secured a comfortable win over Yanam Royals later in the evening in match number 22 of the season. They listed 169/6 from 20 overs courtesy of a 42-ball 60 from opener Jashwanth Shreeram R. Identical 30s from captain Vasudevan Nitin Pranaav (31 off 25 balls) and unbeaten Satish Jangir B (32* off 24 balls) also contributed to the total.

For Yanam Royals, captain Parameeswaran Sivaraman picked up two wickets, including that of well-set opener Shreeram. In response, the Royals struggled to keep up with the asking rate and eventually had their pursuit relinquished at 157/8 from 20 overs.

Ameer Zeeshan scored a sluggish 38-ball 40 in the middle-order after wicketkeeper-batter K Sai Satwik started confidently with a belligerent 33. Royals’ 170-run quest was largely hampered by Mohammed Shafeequddin (3/31) and Sidak Singh (2/23).
