Pondicherry Premier League 2024 Points Table: Updated standings after Karaikal Knights vs Villianur Mohit Kings, Match 4

Yanam Royals and White Town Giants squared off in the third match of the Pondicherry Premier League (PPL) 2024 on Tuesday, August 6. Karaikal Knights and Villianur Mohit Kings locked horns in the fourth.

Villianur Mohit Kings moved from second to first spot with three points after their last game was abandoned against the Karaikal Knights. They have a net run rate (NRR) of 0.414.

White Town Giants registered a win in their opening game against Yanam Royals and secured the second spot with a healthy NRR of +4.686.

Mahe Megalo Strikers dropped from first to third spot with two points and an NRR of 2.097 while Karaikal remained fourth with one point.

Ossudu Accord Warriors lost their first game against Villianur Mohit Kings on Monday and slipped to the fifth spot with a negative NRR of -0.414.

Meanwhile, Yanam Royals, who lost their opening match against the Giants, finished fourth on the second day of the Pondicherry Premier League 2024.

White Town Giants clinch victory; Villianur Mohit Kings' match abandoned

The White Town Giants won the toss and chose to bowl first. Yanam's opener Ganga Sridhar Raju hit a 47-ball half-century with the aid of six fours and a six. Ameer Zeeshan contributed 28 runs off 20 balls. But the rest of the team struggled, managing 124/8 in total. Adil Tunda and Bharat Bhushan Sharma chipped in with two wickets apiece for the Giants while Prathapraj D picked up one.

In reply, White Town Giants' openers Ramachandran Ragupathy (15) and Jay Shilpa Pande put up 23 runs. Pande scored 38 off 30 balls while Akash Kargave, coming in as an impact substitute, played a match-winning innings of 56 runs off 23 balls, hitting 10 fours and one six.

The Giants successfully chased the target in 11.4 overs. Pooviarasan Manogaran was the pick of the Yanam bowlers with two wickets.

The following game between Karaikal Knights and Villianur Mohit Kings was abandoned due to heavy rain.
