Sharks XI handed a 26-run larruping to Panthers XI in match number nine of the 2024 Pondicherry T20 League on July 9 at the Cricket Association Puducherry Siechem Ground. Later in the day at the same venue, Tigers XI blanked Bulls XI by five wickets in a high-scoring run-chase.

After winning the toss, Sharks XI decided to bat first on a batting-friendly surface. Captain and opening batter Neyan Kangayan started off well for his team by smacking 67 runs from just 42 balls at the top.

Akshant Baghel launched five sixes and three boundaries at the death in his whirlwind 19-ball 53 to take Sharks XI to a monumental 206/7 from 20 overs.

Barring Jullian Jacab (2/26), nearly all Panthers XI bowlers were taken to the cleaners in their respective spells. Much like Jacab, Karan Kannan also chipped in with two wickets, albeit with an expensive haul of 2/39.

Panthers XI managed just 180/8 in response despite featuring a dazzling fifty from Sai Hariram K. As many as three Sharks XI bowlers, namely Love Kumar, Maria Ajay-M and Utkarsh Sahu, claimed two wickets each to orchestrate a 26-run win for their side.

In the second match of the day, Bulls XI blazed their way to a huge 211/6 from 20 overs courtesy of a 35-ball 57 from opener Ragavan Ramamoorthy. Anand Bais and Rajesh Thakur also listed sparkling 30s in the middle-overs against Prasanna Hajare (2/33) and Harsh Vaishnav (2/43).

As it turned out, Tigers XI gunned down their colossal target in just 17.3 overs and with five wickets to spare. After paltry contributions from the top-order, number seven Harsh Vaishnav smeared 97 unbeaten runs from just 34 balls with 11 sixes and four boundaries.

For the Bulls XI, only Dharam Yadav came up clutch with the ball, returning with figures of 2/25 from three overs.
