Ravichandran Ashwin drops a dolly during DGD vs CSG TNPL 2025 match [Watch]

Dindigul Dragons (DGD) skipper Ravichandran Ashwin put down a straightforward catch in the team's Tamil Nadu Premier League (TPL) 2025 clash against Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) at Salem on Monday, June 16. The missed opportunity came on the final ball of the 19th over in the CSG innings.

N Sunil Krishna attempted to play a big shot down the ground off pacer Sandeep Warrier's bowling. However, he failed to get the desired distance and the ball went straight to Ashwin at long-off.

After being put to bat first, CSG registered 180/6 in 20 overs. Skipper Baba Aparajith was their top performer, with a 56-run knock in 38 balls. Varun Chakaravarthy was the pick of the bowlers, registering stunning figures of 4-0-25-3.

Ravichandran Ashwin also bowled a tidy spell. The veteran off-spinner conceded 29 runs from his four overs while claiming the wicket of opener RS Mokit Hariharan.

Ravichandran Ashwin led from the front in the run-chase. Coming out to open the batting for DGD, the 38-year-old notched up a fine half-century, scoring 67 runs off 46 balls.

Baba Indrajith also did a commendable job, slamming 73 runs from 43 deliveries. However, their half-centuries eventually went in vain and were overshadowed by Lokesh Raj's magical spell.

Raj bagged a five-wicket haul, recording sensational figures of 2-0-13-5. The Dindigul-based side suffered their second defeat of the season, finishing 172/8 after 20 overs.

With two wins and as many losses after four games, Ravichandran Ashwin and Co. are currently placed fifth in the TNPL 2025 points table. They face Salem Spartans at Tirunelveli on Sunday, June 22.

It is worth mentioning that Ashwin is DGD's second-highest run-getter of the edition. He has amassed 149 runs across four innings at a strike rate of 152.04. With the ball, the ace bowler has picked up three scalps from four innings at an economy rate of 8.35.
