Shubman Gill looks dapper in first photoshoot as Test captain ahead of ENG vs IND 2025 series [In Pictures]

India's new Test captain Shubman Gill sported a dapper look in his first photoshoot as skipper ahead of the upcoming England series. India are set to play a five-match Test series in England beginning June 20.

The team has already reached English shores and begun training for the highly anticipated series. As stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from the longest format, India named Shubman Gill as the new Test captain ahead of the tour.

In his first photoshoot as Test skipper, Gill looked every bit a leader. The Indian cricket team posted pictures of the new captain on Instagram, where he can be seen wearing the Test jersey with a blazer and the baggy blue. Gill can also be seen posing with his bat in several of the pictures, looking sharp as ever.

The first Test will be played at Headingley, Leeds, from June 20 to 24. Edgbaston will host the second Test from July 2 to 6 while the third Test from July 10 to 14 will be played at Lord's. The fourth Test will be played at Old Trafford from July 23 to 27 and the fifth and final Test of the series will be played from July 31 to Augut 4 at the Kennington Oval.

A tough challenge for Shubman Gill first up

Shubman Gill has played 32 Tests for India so far and is still in the early stages of his career in the longest format. The right-hander has scored 1,893 runs at an average of 35.05 with five hundreds and seven half-centuries.

In the absence of big names like Rohit and Kohli, Gill will be under pressure not only as a leader but as one of India's leading batsmen on the tour.

India head into this series on the back of consecutive Test series defeats against New Zealand at home and Australia away. The series also marks the beginning of the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for India and a new era in Test cricket, further adding to the magnitude and importance.
