Australia managed to set a tricky target of 282 for South Africa in the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London. No team has chased over 280 at the iconic venue since England did it in 2004.

Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon resumed things for the Australian team on Day 3 with an overnight score of 144/8 and a lead of 218 runs. Kagiso Rabada dismissed Nathan Lyon early to reduce the opposition to 148/9. With the sun out, the playing conditions eased out for the batters as Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood added 59 runs for the last wicket in 135 balls.

Speaking to the broadcasters during the lunch break, South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada reflected on his team's bowling conditions on Day 3, saying (via Cricbuzz):

"First of all, the ball got a lot softer, 50-60-over-old ball, the sun is out. Yesterday, there was a bit of cloud cover. Hopefully the sun stays off for us during the chase."

On the approach for their chase in the final innings, he said:

"The first thing is partnerships and just to be positive, positive intent and looking to go out there and chase the score. No two ways about it."

"It'll be great if we could win. Lord's is a special place, I have enjoyed playing here and bowling here as well. Would have been nice to get the 10-fer but rather win than a 10-fer," Rabada continued.
