South Africa captain Temba Bavuma came up with a positive mindset as he on Day 2 of the WTC 2025 final against Australia on Thursday, June 12. The right-handed batter looked solid, smashing a couple of boundaries off Mitchell Starc to begin the day on a high. He then smashed the first six of the ultimate Test with a maximum against his counterpart, Australia skipper Pat Cummins.
The shot came in the 35th over of South Africa’s first innings. Cummins bowled a back-of-a-length ball outside off and Bavuma smashed it from the middle of his bat. He swiveled across and picked the length early before depositing it in the stands over square leg.

South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma and his batting partner David Bedingham came out with positive intent on Day 2 in the WTC 2025 final against the Aussies.
Resuming the day on 43/4, SA were 92/4 at the time of writing in their first innings, with Bavuma (36 off 80) and Bedingham (22 off 50) at the crease. Mitchell Starc has been the pick of the bowlers for Australia, removing openers Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton eaon Day 1.
Asked to bat first, Australia put up 212 in their first innings. Steve Smith starred with the bat, scoring 66 runs off 112 balls with the help of 10 boundaries. Beau Webster, playing his fourth Test, top-scored with 72 off 92 deliveries, in an innings laced with 11 fours. The duo shared a 79-run partnership for the fifth wicket after Australia were in a spot of bother at 67/4.
Kagiso Rabada delivered with the ball for the Proteas in the all-important final, returning with figures of 5/51, while Marco Jansen bagged three wickets. Keshav Maharaj and Aiden Markram also bagged one wicket apiece.
