Trent Rockets, in spite of their recent loss against the Birmingham Phoenix, occupy the second spot with two wins in three games and an overall tally of four points.

Birmingham Phoenix have also secured four points after three games, but a slightly inferior net run rate of -0.556 compared to the Rockets' +0.700 places them in the third position.

The Welsh Fire Men, the Southern Brave Men, and the Northern Superchargers Men have an identical record of one win in two matches. With two points each, they occupy the fourth, fifth, and sixth places with net run rates of +1.076, -0.163, and -0.572, respectively.

London Spirits and Manchester Original are at the bottom of the points table with zero points, occupying seventh and eighth place, with abysmal net run rates of -0.556 and -1.639, respectively.

Birmingham Phoenix beat the Trent Rockets by six runs in a close encounter

Trent Rockets elected to field first in the ninth match of the 2024 Men’s Hundred against Birmingham Phoenix at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Phoenix batters Ben Duckett (21 off 17), Liam Livingstone (30 off 20), and Jacob Bethell (46* off 29) were the primary contributors in the first 100 deliveries of the game.

They managed to put up a score of 138/6 in the first innings as Rashid Khan scalped two for the Rockets, while Imad Wasim, Sam Cook, Lewis Gregory, and Joe Root took one wicket apiece.

Chasing 139, opener Alex Hales (38 off 30) and number three batter Joe Root (33 off 19) kept the Rockets in the hunt for the majority of the game. They hit four boundaries and four maximums between them.

The Trent-based franchise somehow lost their way in the middle overs in spite of a middle-order contribution from Rovman Powell (21 off 13). In the end, the Trent Rockets fell short of the target by six runs, handing the Birmingham Phoenix a victory in the ninth encounter of the tournament. Phoenix bowlers Dan Moulsey (3/9), Adam Milne (2/20), Tim Southee (1/24), and Benny Howell (1/19) helped their side score two crucial points in this fixture.
