While a target of 142 runs might not seem appealing at first, the Kovai Kings bowlers made life difficult for the Super Gillies. The latter lost opener Santosh K Duraisamy for a silver duck. Narayan Jagadeesan (18) and skipper Baba Aparajith (38) made up for the early loss. However, the Chepauk Super Gillies soon lost three wickets in quick succession as the scorecard read 63/4 in 10.2 overs.

With the Super Gillies in dire need of a good innings, Pradosh Ranjan Paul stepped up. Pau’s 32-ball 40 kept the Super Gillies in the hunt, but he unfortunately had to retire. In the end, the Chepauk Super Gillies could only manage to score 128/6 in 20 overs as the Lyca Kovai Kings won the game by 13 runs.
