In a bizarre incident, Nat Sciver-Brunt got a lifeline as the ball hit the stumps, but the bails remained intact during the game between Southern Brave Women and Trent Rockets Women on Saturday, August 10. The 24th match of The Hundred Women’s Competition took place at The Rose Bowl, Southampton.

The incident took place on the 63rd ball of the Trent Rockets innings. Southern Brave pacer Lauren Bell bowled a slower ball on the middle and leg stump. The delivery dipped onto the batter as Sciver-Brunt got an inside edge as the ball hit her shoes and dribbled back onto the stumps, but there was no impact on the bails.

Here’s the video of the incident:

Nat Sciver-Brunt was on 37 when she got a lifeline. The Rockets captain made the most of this lucky incident and remained unbeaten on 60 off 37 balls, hitting eight boundaries and one maximum.

Southern Brave Women won the toss and chose to field first. Smriti Mandhana produced an amazing run-out on the first ball of the game to dismiss Trent Rockets opener Bryony Smith as the Brave got off to a brilliant start.

Lauren Cheatle got the second breakthrough for Southern Brave as she dismissed Natasha Wraith for 12. Grace Scrivens (36) and Nat Sciver-Brunt stitched together a brilliant 62-run partnership off 37 balls for the third wicket before the former was removed by Chloe Tryon.

Sciver-Brunt's impressive 60-run knock paved the way for the Rockets to finish at 155/7 in 100 balls. Lauren Bell was the pick of the bowlers for the Brave, taking three wickets.

In reply, at the time of writing, the Brave got off to a bad start and are seemingly struggling against the Rockets' bowling unit. They are at 82/4 after 70 balls and still need 74 runs off the final five overs.
