West Indies batting star Chris Gayle was spotted at Lord's on the opening day of the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final between South Africa and Australia. The game is scheduled to be played from June 11 to June 15.

Chris Gayle, 45, played 103 Tests for the West Indies. He scored 7214 runs at an average of 42.18 with 15 hundreds and 37 half-centuries to his name in the format. The left-hander made his Test debut in 2000 against Zimbabwe at Port of Spain.

His last Test appearance for the West Indies came back in 2014 against Bangladesh at Kingstown. Gayle was spotted in the stands at Lord's, witnessing the 2025 WTC final, dressed in his usual colorful and stylish manner with a cap and shades on as well.

An action-packed Day 1 in SA vs AUS 2025 WTC final

Meanwhile, the opening day of the 2025 WTC final between South Africa and Australia at Lord's has been absolutely action-packed. South Africa won the toss and asked Australia to bat first. Their pacers made complete use of the conditions on offer, picking early wickets and eventually bundling Australia out for just 212 runs in 56.4 overs in the first innings.

Kagiso Rabada led their charge with a five-wicket haul while Marco Jansen added three wickets as well. Keshav Maharaj and Aiden Markram chipped in with a wicket each. Steve Smith (66) and Beau Webster (72) scored vital half-centuries for Australia.

However, Australia bounced back with the ball, picking up early wickets to bring the game into balance. At the time of writing, South Africa, in the second innings, are down to 34/4 from 21 overs, trailing by 178 runs.

Mitchell Starc bagged two quick wickets upfront while Josh Hazlewood and skipper Pat Cummins picked up a wicket each. As expected, the Australian pace trio has put the Proteas in early trouble. South Africa will now look to bat out the remainder of the day without further loss of wickets.
