Ex-England skipper Nasser Hussain provided his hilarious take on the winner of the World Test Championship (WTC) final bout between South Africa and Australia at Lord's, beginning on June 11. Although Hussain hilariously claimed that either side winning will cause him pain, he decided to go with Australia.
The two sides captured the top two spots at the end of the WTC cycle 2023-25. South Africa topped it with series wins over the West Indies, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka with 69.44 percentage points. Reigning champions Australia beat Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and India to garner 67.54 percentage points.
During a Sky Sports podcast, Michael Atherton asked for Hussain's predictions and the latter replied:
"It's like asking me to choose between two lads. I mean, It's like Australia or South Africa. Which is worse? Which will cause me more pain?"
Ex-South African captain Shaun Pollock, who was also present, claimed:
"Do me a favor. It won't cause you pain."
In response, the 57-year-old hilariously said he will go with Australia as Pollock will not stop ranting if South Africa emerge triumphant.
"If South Africa win, I will never hear the end of it from Pollock. So, for once in my life, I'm going to go Australia. But it would be a nice story if South Africa win, just so I can see you rant in the times about South Africa winning the World Test Championship."
It will also be the first time that Australia and South Africa will collide in an ICC final.
Australia won the WTC final by beating Team India

Australia, meanwhile, won the WTC final two years ago by clinching a 209-run victory over Team India at The Oval. Twin centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith gave them a first-innings total of 469 as they followed it up by taking a 173-run lead. After setting a 444-run target, Australia bowled India out for 234.
Pat Cummins and co. will want to replicate that success this year against South Africa.
