India completed a thumping win over the West Indies in their third game of the ongoing Women's World Cup. The Women in Blue will be highly satisfied with their performance and the way they bounced back after a disappointing loss against hosts New Zealand in their previous game.

Centuries from opener Smriti Mandhana and the experienced Harmanpreet Kaur put the team in a strong position as they finished with their highest score in Women's World Cup history. The bowlers didn't get off to a good start while defending, but later dramatically pulled things back and gave their team a fantastic win by 155 runs.

Fans on Twitter hailed the Women in Blue for showing the right intent in their batting. They also heaped praise on the bowlers for showing their true character and delivering under pressure in a crucial game. Here are some of the best reactions:

India make a strong statement with thumping win over West Indies

Yastika Bhatia struggled in her last outing against the White Ferns. This time, however, the southpaw was determined to get her team off to a flyer. Her quickfire 31 gave the Women in Blue the start that they desperately needed.

However, the West Indies bowlers struck back and from 49-0, the Women In Blue slumped to 78/3. This is when two of their most experienced batters, Mandhana and Harmanpreet, got together and steered the Indian ship. They initially absorbed the pressure and later began to feast on the West Indies bowling.

Mandhana slammed a sensational 123, while Harmanpreet proved her critics wrong by once again delivering on the biggest stage. India put on a record score of 317/8 and it looked too much for the West Indies to chase down from the outset.

However, in reply, the West Indies got off to a flying start, thanks to some sensational hitting from Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews. In just 12 overs, the openers added a massive hundred runs and the game looked to be slipping away from the grasp of the Women in Blue.

Just then, all-rounder Sneh Rana struck, picking up the big wicket of Deandra Dottin. This opened the floodgates for West Indies batting as they slipped from a 100/0 to 162 all-out. In the end, the bowlers were just too strong for their opponents and put on a clinical display.

This emphatic win has once again put India in contention to make it to the semifinals. The Women in Blue will now face defending champions England in their next game at the Bay Oval on March 16.
