Pakistan's Mohammad Yousuf a doubt for Indian tour

LONDON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 19: Mohammad Yousuf of Pakistan edges the ball through the slips during day two of the npower 3rd Test Match between England and Pakistan at The Brit Insurance Oval on August 19, 2010 in London, England.

Pakistan chief selector Iqbal Qasim has stated that veteran batsman Mohammad Yousuf will not be considered when the selection board sits down to name the squad for the upcoming Indian tour.

Yousuf, has not played any form of first class cricket for over a year and only recently returned to play for the Lahore Lions in the ongoing national T20 championship in Pakistan, having featured in one solitary match so far.

He holds the record for the most runs by a Test batsman in a calendar year (a feat achieved by him in 2006), and could have provided some much needed experience in the middle order for Pakistan, but has been out of the game for too long a time to be in contention for the away series against arch-rivals India.

He has said he is working hard on his fitness in order to be ready for the upcoming away trip to South Africa in January 2013.
