Opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq has been the talk of the town in Pakistan after his match-winning century against Sri Lanka as he was celebrated like a hero on social media. Imam revealed that he received congratulatory messages from around 300-400 female fans on social media and he had to switch off his mobile internet so that things can be kept in control.

"After I scored the century I received calls and messages of congratulations from around 300-400 female fans. My social media was [flooded]. Finally, I switched off my mobile internet. I hadn’t even imagined scoring a century on debut. I’m happy I could be of use to the team. I’m thankful to all my fans for their encouragement," said Iman to Geo news

Recently, Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq created history by becoming the second Pakistani and the 13th batsman overall to score a century on ODI debut when he reached the three-figure mark against the Lankans in the third ODI in UAE.

His 125-ball 100 with the help of five fours and two sixes helped his team win the third ODI by 7 wickets and along with that, the series


When he was picked in the Pakistani ODI team, a lot of criticisms came his way as the fans felt that he was picked only because he is the nephew of selector Inzamam-ul-Haq.

He is a consistent performer for his domestic teams and made a mark by scoring a century on Pakistan Cup debut, replacing former skipper Misbah-ul-Haq.

Without a doubt, Imam has got off to a great start in International cricket. Now, it is important for him to cash on the start, continue his good work and cement his place in the national side. Credit has to be given to the 21-year-old for silencing the ones who criticized his selection by scoring a century on debut. As already said, this is just a start and the left-hander still has a long way to go.
